These are bad times for Obama
The word ‘Impeachment’ is such a strong and scary word when regarding the office of the President of the United States.
Only twice in the history of this great country has a President been impeached. President Johnson in 1868 because of his overuse of Vetoing, multiple misdemeanors and interference with elections. President Johnson was acquitted by one vote in the Senate.
And then of course Bill Clinton back in 1998 due to the Monica Lewinsky affair; lying under oath about exactly his nature of relationship with the intern. Impeachment proceedings went through the House of Representatives but failed to make it to vote in the Senate leaving Clinton in office.
Barack Obama once promised that transparency would be one of the highlights of his Administration saying “Going forward, anytime the American people want to know something that I or a former President wants to withhold, we will have to consult with the Attorney General and the White House counsel, whose business it is to ensure compliance with the rule of law. Information will not be withheld just because I say so; it will be withheld because a separate authority believes my request is well-grounded in the Constitution. Let me say it as simply as I can: transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this Presidency”. This quickly proved to be untrue from the beginnings of his time in office. Obama’s Presidency has acted quite the opposite of ‘transparent’ and it is no more obvious than it is now with all the web of lies currently facing the Administration.
Rep. Jason Chaffetz spoke with CNN about the ‘I’ word just recently “Look, it’s not something I’m seeking,” the Republican congressman from Utah said on CNN’s “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.” “It’s not the endgame; it’s not what we’re playing for. I was simply asked, is that within the realm of possibilities, and I would say ‘yes.’ I’m not willing to take that off the table. But that’s certainly not what we’re striving for.” Of course it isn’t something they’re striving for, it would be a dark day for America if Impeachment were to happen. He went on to say “We want truth. We want to have the president do what he has said he would always do, and that is, be open and transparent. Thus far, the White House has not done that.”
What we see cooking up in Washington right now with all these scandals coming out at once is much worse than what faced Johnson, Nixon or Clinton. Obama tried to cover up and lessen the impact of four dead Americans in Benghazi, allowed or was unaware and incompetent of the IRS targeting tea partiers and patriots during the 2012 elections and again was either unaware or incompetent of his own DOJ intruding the first Amendment rights of the Associated Press. That’s at least three solid reasons to have Impeachment proceedings but Impeachment proceedings will only happen if the scandals continue to be pursued by those in Washington and those in the media; only they have the resources to dig through the lies and see just how far up these scandals go.
Hell, we pretty much already know that Obama is deeply involved with trying to downplay the 9/11 terror attack in Benghazi, that ordeal is very much indefensible and he knows it.
I’m really hoping that something comes out of all this mess. The main stream media is finally stepping up their game and being actual journalists. I’m remaining cautiously optimistic that justice will be served upon the corrupt individuals inside Washington.
America deserves the truth and they deserve a government that doesn’t abuse it’s powers. I’m sick of the lies from this Presidency. It’s time for Obama and his allies to either be removed through justice of law or to resign with some sort of dignity and integrity that may be left in them.
However I think the scariest thing about this whole possible Impeachment deal is that if this goes through then we’d have Gaffe Master Biden as President. Now that’s pretty frightening.
